1914/15 Star named 14883 PTE W GRASS NORF R.
William Grass was a 22 year old who lived in Brandon, Suffolk. He had spent time in prison - 4 months for assualt on a girl before he joined the Norfolk Regiment on 7th Sept 1914. After training he landed in France on 30th Aug 1915 with the 9th battalion and was wounded in action on 29th July 1916, gun shot wound left side and back by a machine gun bullet. He was sent home and recovered by 16th July 1917 when he was sent to Mespotamia with the 2nd battalion. He stayed out their till 9th April 1919 when he returned home and was discharged on7th May 1919.
