1914/15 Star named 8608 PTE A LAIRD SEA HIGHRS & Victory Medal named 8608 PTE A LAIRD SEAFORTH.
Alexander Laird was from Brigdend, Glasgow and a 39 year old Warper by trade. He enlisted into the Seaforth Highlanders numbered 8608 on 31st May 1915 and landed in France on 2nd Oct 1915 with the 7th Battalion. He caught Malaria and Bronchitis in April 1916 but back in Dec 1916. He transferred to the Labour Corps numbered 400482 and stayed with them till Feb 1920. After the war he was digging graves in France and renumbered 699642, awarded a pension for Bronchitis.
