1914/15 Star & Victory Medal both named SS-872 PTE J TAYLOR ASC.
James Taylor born in 1881 from Dunfermline, Fife was a 33 year old clerk when he enlisted into the Army Service Corps numbered SS-872 on the 7th Aug 1914. He joined the Supply Specialist section of the Army Service Corps. He was not a model soldier as he was in trouble and put in prison for 2 weeks in Oct 1914. He made Acting Corp on 20th Mar 1915 and was then shipped to France landing on 23rd Mar 1915 and joining the 236th Depot Unit of the Supply Department of 1/1st South Mid Division. On 21st July 1915 he failed to comply to an order and was reduced in rank to a Pte. He caught influenza in Nov 1916 and spent a small amount of time getting better.
On 7th Oct 1916 he was transferred to the 20th Kings Royal Rifle Corps numbered A-203709 as a rifleman till he was discharged on 4th Mar 1919.
