      1914/15 Star, British War & Victory Medals all named ART ENG A BARRIE RN.


      Archibald Barrie born 29th Mar 1877 in Westown, Lanarkshire was an Engine Smith when he enlisted into the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer numbered 269788 on 24th May 1899. In 1909 he was promoted officer as an Artificer Engineer, served on HMS Orion 1911, HMS Monarch & HMS Minion 1914, Chief Artificer Engineer 1918 and Cadet Engineer 1919. Served on HMS Mistletoe & Hermion in 1919. 1922 made an Engineer Lt and retired 1928. Made a Engineer Lt Commander Retired 1930, 1939 Shipping Broker and Civil Force Observer Corps living in Woolwich, London. He dies in 1947 living in Burgess Hill.

      HMS Minion was involved in Battle of Jutland in 1916
