Charles William Moore born 22nd March 1878 was a 18 year old groom from Horndean, Hampshire into the Royal Navy on 15th June 1894 as a boy 2nd class. He started on HMS St Vincent then Infelxible, Victory I, Fox where he earned the East Africa medal with clasp Sierra Leone 1898-99, Dukes of Wellington, Trafalgar, Excellent, Vernon, Duke of Wellington, Devastation, Royal Sovereign, Ramillies, Irrestible, Vernon, Victory I, Eclipse, Juno, Vernon and then Victory II & I where he earned his LS&GC medal in 1911 by then a Petty Officer 1st Class. HMS Arigane, Terrible, Heela, Jupage II, Mineroa II, Dido II.
WW1 starts and he is on HMS Attentive II (Racehorse) till 22nd Dec 1914 15th July 1918 doing anti submarine work around Belgium. For this he was mentioned in dispatches LG 25th July 1916 and received a Distinguished Service Medal LG 25th July 1916 as well. Back to Victory I in April 1918 till 15th July 1918 and then HMS Blenheim till 14th Mar 1919, HMS Victory till 30th Apr 1919 when he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve numbered 6027 till 1921
