      WW1 1914/15 Star , British War & Victory Medals all named 291110 A EATON CH STO RN & Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named 291110 AMON EATON ACT CH STO HMS PEMBROKE.


      Amon Eaton born on 10th Jun 1870 at Mayfield, Sussex and was a Carrier Carman when he enlisted into the Royal Navy on 6th Jan 1899 numbered 291110. He signed on for 12 years and served on HMS Terror, Hawke, Hibernan, Grion, Leander, Vulcan, Hermoine, Octacon, Majestic, Agamemnon, Triton, Blenheim, Trecla. He was awarded his LS&GC on 5th Feb 1914 by now an Acting Chief Stoker.


      WW1 broke out and he was on HMS Patrol in Hartlepool Harbour as Chief Stoker when the German Fleet attacked it on 16th Dec 1914. As the ship attempted to leave the harbor, it was hit by two heavy German shells, which killed four crew members and wounded seven. The badly holed ship then struggled into Middlesbrough docks for repairs, missing the subsequent action as the German ships broke off the attack. He left HMS Patrol on 9th Aug 1917 and joined HMS Chester from 14th Sep 1917 till 7th Apr 1919.
