David Lang born in Scotland on 29th Oct 1888 and educated in Glasgow and was a Law Clerk working in Edinburgh. He previously had service till 1913 in the 9th HLI Glasgow Highlanders. He enlisted into the 1/9th Royal Scots numbered 2152 and landed in France on 24th Feb 1915 in D Coy. He was wounded in action on 14th March 1915 Gun Shot Wound to his thigh and was sent back to the UK.
He gained a commission in the Black Watch in Nov 1915 and was put into the 7th Black Watch and attached at some point to the Machine Gun Corps.
