1914/15 Star LIEUT E H I HALFORD DEVON R, British War & Victory Medals named CAPT E H I HALFORD & Special Constabulary Long Service Medal named EDWARD HALFORD. Set in a jewelers box from Exeter.
Edward Henry Ingram Halford born 1st Aug 1879 at Bromyard, Hereford, the Son of the local Bank Manager. He joined his father's profession as list as a bank clerk in Leicester in the 1911 census. He enlisted into the 4th Wessex Royal Field Artillery numbered 418 on 3rd Sep in Exeter aged 35 years old, formerly serving in the 1st Worcesters Volunteer Artillery.
He was granted a commission in the 2/4th Devonshire Regt on 30th Sep 1914. Made a Lt on 1st Jun 1916, Acting Capt on 8th Jul 1916 whilst commanding a Co. Made Capt on 18th Sep 1920 and relinquished his commission on 9th Jul 1921. He landed in Mesopotamia on 25th Dec 1915 probably with the 1st Seaforth Highlanders. He is noted as being transferred to the Black Watch in Aug 1916 from the War Diary and at some stage attached to the 2nd Dorsetshire Regt. He died on 13th Feb 1960 aged 80 years old in Malvern.
