1914 Star named 3-4389 PTE W A F GRAY 1/D OF CORN LI.
William Angus Francis Gray was a warehouse lad born in 1990 in Bermondsey, London. He enlisted into the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry numbered 3-4389 and after training landed in France on 11th Sept 1914. At The Battle of La Bassée, the regiment was in the trenches on the 12th Oct 1914 parallel to the Rue de L'Epinette and were shelled all night when William was killed in action. He is remembered on the Le Touret Memorial.
