David Ward born 1884 in Areley Kings, Worcestershire was a Billards Marker when he enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery numbered 282384 as a Driver on 30th Oct 1902. He was with 123rd Battery RFA and was sent to India on 16th Feb 1907 till 7th Jan 1911 when they returned home. He was still with them when WW1 arrived and was sent to France on 18th Aug 1914, then he was posted to 124th Battery on 6th May 1915 as a Bombadier but was sent home due to sickness on 30th Oct 1915. He recovered and was sent back to France on 29th Dec 1915 with D/155th Brigade and promoted Cpl. On the 5th May 1916 he was promoted to Acting Sgt but asked to revert back to Cpl on 29th May 1916. Made Acting Sgt again in Sept 1916 with A/161 Brigade but did not like the extra duties and reverted back to Cpl again on 30th Mar 1917. On 1st Apr 1917 sent to 32rd Divisional Artillery Column, next C/168 Brigade in Aug 1918 and then home in Dec 1918 as he was a Coal Worker and was required back.
