1914 Star named 7784 PTE J RAYBOULD 1/E LAN R.British War & Victory Medals named 7784 PTE J RAYBOULD E LAN R.James was born in 1884 in Wigan and joined the 1st East Lancashire Regt in Jan 1903 numbered 7784.When WW1 started James landed in France on 22nd Aug 1914. The Battalion fought at The Battle of Le Cateau, The Battle of the Marne, The Battle of the Aisne and The Battle of Messines 1914.Discharged 15th Jan 1916 as term expired, he rejoined the 3rd East Lancashire Regt numbered 35278 in Nov 1916. He left the regiment and joined the Military Field Police in August 1917 and was numbered P/16233 and made a L/Cpl. He received a small pension after the war due to DAH (Disorder Action of the Heart).
