Maurice Edward Clarke enlisted into the Rifle Brigade number 892 on 15th May 1905. When WW1 came he landed in France on 10th Sep 1914 with the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade. He was discharged due to wounds on 10th Apr 1916 and awarded his Silver War Badge. There is a Maurice Edward Clarke on the 1911 Census in the 4th Rifle Brigade stationed in Egypt and from Wigan.
