Alan Geoffrey Gardiner was an Able Seaman number DJX/347290 onboard HMS Eclipse when she hit a mine around Greece and sank very quickly on 24th Oct 1943. 119 ships company and 134 soldiers of the 4th Royal Kent Regiment lost their lives who were going to Leros. Alan was only 19 years old and was the Son of Claude Clifford Gardiner and Alice Maude Gardiner of Waterloo, Liverpool.
