Peter Bow from Smeaton, Kilkardy in Fife was a 18 year old labourer when he enlisted into the 72nd Highlanders numbered 998 at Sterling in July 1877 joining the 58th Brigade numbered 993. He fought in Afghanistan earning the clasps Charasia, Kabul and the final defeat of the Afghan army at Kandahar after the defeat of the British Army at Maiwand. Next we have in the army reserves rejoining from the 2nd Royal Scots numbered 1902 in Feb 1885.
