Walter Lee born in Southleigh, Devon on 4 Oct 1871 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy First Class on 1st Oct 1887. He served on various ships during his 16 years service. Advanced Chief Petty Officer on 15 May 1903, whilst serving in H.M.S.Highflyer during operations off the coast of British Somaliland, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 7 October 1904, and was shore pensioned on 3 October 1911. No WW1 service.
