Edward Savage was a 14 year old tailor born in Chelsea, London in 1874 when he enlisted into the Shropshire Light Infantry numbered 2887 on 28th Aug 1888. He was a Boy soldier and served in Malta 16th Sep 1889 to 16th Mar 1891, Egypt till 1st Dec 1891, Hong Kong till 21st Dec 1894, India till 13th Mar 1903 before being sent home and leaving on 27th Aug 1911 after 23 years service. He received his LS&GC in 1907 with gratuity.
