William Parker born 24th Dec 1848 in Cowden, Kent enlisted into the Royal Navy numbered 28742 on 1st Feb 1864 as a Boy 2nd Class. He first 8 years of service are not available. He earned the Ashantee Medal onboard HMS Merlin as an Able Seaman and left her on 12th May 1876, next he went to the Naval Barracks till 5th Oct 1876, HMS Duncan till 14th Nov 1876 and finally the Naval Barracks as a Leading Seaman till he left on 29th Sep 1876.
