      Ashantee Medal no clasp named L H FRANCIS LG SEAMN HMS DRUID 73-74 & Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named LEONARD H FRANCIS BOATN HM COAST GUARD.


      Leonard Hunt Francis born 8th July 1849 in Queensborough, County Louth, Ireland enlisted into the Royal Navy numbered 27933 on 12th Nov 1863 as a Boy 2nd Class. His first ship was HMS Liffey till 1st May 1865, HMS C??? till 28th May 1868 as a Boy 1st Class, Ordinary Seaman. HMS Royal George till 31st Dec 1869 as a Able Seaman, HMS Excellent till 27th Jan 1871, HMS Bristol till 24th Jul 1871, HMSSeringapatam till 31st Dec 1872.

      Renumbered 66904 on HMS Flora till 10th Apr 1873, HMS Druid till 14th Dec 1876 as Leading Seaman and Petty Officer 2nd & 1st Class earning him the Ashantee Medal, HMS Royal Adalaide till 28th Feb 1877, HMS Penelope till 6th Mar 1877. He now leaves the Navy and joins the Coastguards as a Boatman then Commander Boatsman at West Mersea and then Milford Haven retiring on 5th Jul 1890.
