William Rolfe born 16th Mar 1843 in Rochester, Kent enlisted into the Royal Navy on 5th Aug 1857 numbered 34884 as a Boy 2nd Class. His first ship was HMS ?? till 30th Apr 1858, then HMS ??? till 20th Jan 1860, HMS ??? till 23rd Jun 1864, HMS Excellent till 27th Mar 1866, HMS Bellerophon till 30th Sep 1870 now a Ships Corporal.
Renumbered 55782 HMS Boscawen again till 11th Jul 1872, HMS Duke of Wellington till 16th Nov 1872, HMS Dromedary 10th July 1874 where he earned his Ashantee Medal, HMS Duke of Wellington again till 9th Feb 1875, HMS Crocodile till 21st Feb 1875, HMS Rapid till 24th Mar 1879, HMS Minotaur till 8th Apr 1879, HMS Hecla till 28th Apr 1879 and finally HMS Duke of Wellington again till 9th May 1879 when he was put to Shore and set off on 1st Oct 1879.
We note a traced medal so proberably due a LS&GC medal.
