Stanley David Kirby born 19th Oct 1920 in Deptford, London joined the Royal Navy 26th July 1937 during WW2 and was awarded the BEM LG 1st Jan 1946 for services on HMS Zest during WW2. HMS Zest was an escort destroyer and went on several Russian convoys, notably JW64, JW66 & RA66, as well as evacuation of civilians off the island of Soroy. Discharged 12th Jan 1946, rejoined RFR 6th Jan 1953 and awarded his LS&GC 17th Dec 1953 after 15 years service. Discharged again 31st Mar 1954.
