BWM Pte White KIA 18/10/1918 B Coy 6th Tank Corps

    WW1 British War Medal named 78683 PTE R A WHITE TANK CORPS.

    Reginald Arthur White born 1894 in Twywell, Northants enlisted into the Army Service Corps numbered 223878 before transferring to the 6th Battalion Tank Corps numbered 78683.

    On the 17th Oct 1918 B Coy of 6th Tank Corps was detailed to attack with the infantry the Red Line near Elincourt with 5 tanks. It all went well with several machine guns being silenced but when 3 tanks attacked near Demileu, a german field gun destroyed them which meant the infantry could not progress further and were withdrawn together with the tanks. Reginald was killed in action in this attack deemed to be on the 18th Oct and was buried at Busigny Communal Cemetery Extension.

    He was the 24 year old Son of William and Charlotte Elizabeth White, of Woodford, Thrapston, Northants.
