Memorial Plaque PHILIP FRANK CROSS.Plaque has a drilled hole at 12 OClock.Philip was born in 1896 in Sydenham and was a Bank Clerk. He joined the TA in Sept 1913 in the London Rifle Brigade numbered 9584. He joined the 5th London Regt and landed in France on 4th November 1914 to earn him a 1914 Star. He was wounded in action on 3rd May 1915 Gun Shot Wound and sent home. He rejoined in June 1915 and was sent to Cadet School and commission on 28th Aug 1915.He was posted to the 1st Royal West Kent Regt in Aug 1915 and posted to them in the field on 4th Sept 1915.Killed in action on 22nd July 1916 at Highwood, Battle of Somme. He was in C Coy and was listed as Wounded and Missing due to machine gun fire which made almost all officers casualties. Total casualties 421.
