Egypt Medal clasps Tel el Kebir, Suakin 1884 & El teb Tamaai engraved naming 1714 PTE K MCKENZIE 1/GORD HIGHRS.
Kenneth McKenzie born at Contin near Dingwall, Ross-shire circa. He is first reported in the 1871 Census as a 21 year old soldier with the 92nd Highlanders in barracks at Castlehill, Aberdeen. He was sent to Egypt to fight in 1882 with the 1st Gordon Highlanders numbered 1714 and fought in the battles of Tel-el-Kebir 13th Sept 1884, Suakin 1884 19th Feb to 16th Mar 1884, El Teb on the 29th Feb 1884 and Tamaai on the 13th March 1884. At the battle of Tamaai he was severely wounded and succumbed to his wounds on 30th Mar 1884. He is commemorated on the Gordon's Memorial in Aberdeen.
