Indian General Service clasps Hazara 1888 & Samana 1891 named in script SURGEON W VOST 2D BN 5TH GURKHA RGT.Contained in an old fitted leather case, original frayed riband and wearing brooch-pin with his original commission and medical certificates.William Vost was born in November 1861 and studied medicine at Glasgow University. Duly elected to the membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1886, he entered the Indian Medical Service as a Surgeon in March of the following year and witnessed active service in the Hazara Expedition of 1888 and in the Second Miranzai Expedition of 1891. He also witnessed active service in the Boxer Rebellion (Medal issued).The author of Jaunpur and Zafarabad Inscriptions (1905), Vost was placed on the Retired List as a Lieutenant-Colonel in December 1913.
