      Indian General Service Medal clasp N E Frontier 1891 engraved script naming LIEUT A A HOWELL I S C.

      Auberson Arthur Howell son of Arthur Howell Indian Staff Corps born on 2nd Nov 1865 in Bengal, India. Commissioned on 29th Aug 1885 into the Northumberland Fusiliers and seconded to the Indian Army on 4th June 1887. He took part in the expedition Manipur expedition (a Victoria Cross was issued for this expedition to Lt C J W Grant Indian Staff Corps )of which only 3000 clasps issued and received his medal named to the Indian Staff Corps. He rose through the ranks to become Lt Colonel in Aug 1911 and retired in Nov 1913. He is noted as died on 23rd April 1946 aged 80 years old in Deben, Suffolk.
