Charles Edward Poyser born in Sheffield in 1932, Son of Harry and Mary of 40 Works Valley Road, Sheffield. On 17th Jan 1952 the Kings Shorpshire Light Infantry took over the front line trenches from the 1st PPCLI (Canadians). The Chinese tactic was to slowly move closer to the enemy by digging connecting trenches up to the enemy trenches. The KSLI sent out regular patrols to destroy these trenches and stop ambushes. On 21st Jan 1952 Pte Poyser is listed as wounded in action, shrapnel to his stomach.
