Victor Charles Holmes born 15th Mar 1919 was the son of Charles John Holmes from Leighton Buzzard, enlisted into the Royal Signals in 1939 numbered 2362815. He trade was a Radio Engineer. He rose through the ranks to become a WO2 (QMS). He survived the war and was discharged in 1947. He must have served in Madras, India as letter handing over the stores for the Madras Signals, Madras 9.
We believe sometime around 1979 (can't find the Gazette) he was awarded the MBE (civilian).
Charles John Holmes father of Victor Charles Holmes, from Leighton Buzzard where he was a nurseyman, enlisted into the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers in Dec 1915 numbered 25552 and after training went to France. In Oct 1916 he transferred to the York and Lancaster Regiment nubered 31856 before being discharged due to health and awarded a Silver War Badge on 14th Mar 1918.
