WW1 Memorial Plaque named ARTHUR DOUGLAS ARNOLD.
Arthur was born in 4th April 1895 in Kensington, London and was a Bank Clerk before the war. He enlisted in Sept1914 into the Royal Fusiliers as a Private numbered 1208 and had no overseas service with them.
He gained a commission in the 10th Royal Warwickshire Regt but was attached to the 9th Battalion. As he used to work in the Persian Bank and probably had some language skills, he was sent to Mesopotamia on 7th March 1916 and took part in the relief of Kut when he was killed in action with the 9th Royal Warwickshire Regt.He was aged just 21 and was the Son of Frank and Annie Arnold of Purley, Surrey.
