Robert Rielly or Reilly was born in Bridgetown, Lanarkshore and enlisted in the army joining the 1/7th Princess Louise's Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders numbered 1972 and then later 275306. He was fighting in Belgium on the 20th Sept 1917 near Poelcappelle when in the line, they attacked the German positions with the 9th Royal Scots. The objective was captured but the Germans counter attacked but were able to inflict severe casualties on the enemy before withdrawing. Sadly on this day Robert was killed and he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
