MM & Bar group to 12th (Bermondsey Battalion) East Surrey Regiment.Military Medal and Copy Bar named 27053 SJT D E STAINES 12/E SURR R.British War & Victory Medals named 72493 SJT D E STAINES R FUS.Dudley Edward Staines was born in Shepperton, Middlesex in 1898 and lived in Bexhill. He originally joined the 5th Royal Fusiliers as a Sjt and then transferred to the 12th East Surrey Regt as a Sjt.His first MM is in the LG 13th March 1919 Probably for Battle of Amiens. The Bar is in LG 23rd July 1919 probably the Advance to Victory battles.I have next found him travelling to USA in 1931 (secretary) and again in 1936 (Industrial Relation Officer). He then went to Singapore in 1950 and USA in 1951. He is also noted as travelled to Mexico from USA.s an executive with his wife Dina Staines travelling from Southampton to Singapore.
