      Description:

      WW1 Military Medal with copy bar named 292499 PTE -LCPL J NICOLSON R HIGHRS, 1914/15 Star, British War & Victory Medals all named S-4322 PTE J NICOLSON R HIGHRS. Note MM minor official correction to rank.

      Provenance: Glendining’s, November 1998 - invoice included.

      MM London Gazette 18 June 1917 (Battle of Arras with the 1/7th Battalion) & Bar London Gazette 20 August 1919 (1st Battalion).

      John Nicolson from Strathtay attested for the Royal Highlanders, numbered S-4322 with the 9th Battalion whom he landed in France on 14 July 1915. Transferred to the 1/7th (Fife) Battalion numbered 6343 and then 292499 and won MM at Battle of Arras April 1917, transferred to the 10th Battalion and finally the 1st Battalion being awarded the Bar to his MM.
