Philip Gerrard is listed in the London County Council records as a Central Admininstrative Staff for the Asylums & Mental Deficiency Dept. He enlisted into the 2/10th Middlesex Regiment numbered 2842 and was sent to Gallipoli on 18th July 1915 landing at Sulva Bay on 9th Aug 1915 till evacuated in Dec 1915 to Egypt. He stayed with the Middlesex Regt till 17th May 1916 when he transferred to the Army Service Corps numbered S4-186300. He was awarded a MSM in LG 14th March 1917 for Egypt, a mention in dispatches in LG 16th Jan 1918 and again on 5th June 1919 with HQ XX Corps all for Egypt. He spent 15 months in Egypt and then 2 years in Palestine before he was released from service on 13th Feb 1919.
