In 1906 the Zulu and Natal native rebelled and the Border Mounted Rifles took part in the suppression and the fighting in Natal at Hlonoro Hill & Umvoti Valley. In 1907 they also took part in the expedition to Zululand to arrest Chief Dinuzulu. Herbetson probably a Norwegian descent from settlers in the Natal Valley.
