William Frank Watson born 6th Sept 1888 and living in Woodford Green, Essex as a Banker when he enlisted in the Inns Court Officer Training Corps in Dec 1914 and became a 2 Lieut in the Army Service Corps. After training he was sent out to Egypt arriving in Alexandria in May 1915 taking part in Gallipoli with the Advantanced Transport Depot till Jan 1916 when sent to Egypt as Assistant to OCB HT Depot, then Officer Commanding 313 HT Coy and 6th Aux HT Coy in Cairo to Nov 1916. No 1 Depot ECTC in Nov 1916, and then Adjutant of G Coy ECTC Kantara & Mazar to Feb 1917. Officer Commanding No 4 (249) Coy 53rd DT Serapeum and Moascar till Mar 1917, Adjutant 74th Divisional Train and then sent to France with them in Apr 1918 and stayed there till April 1919 when sent home for demob as a Captain.
His war efforts were recognised by Mention in Dispatches 16th Jan 1918, 30th Dec 1918 & 10th July 1919. OBE LG 3rd June 1919.
