Queens South Africa Medal clasps Cape Colony & Orange Free State named 8667 DMR F WHITTAKER E LANC REGT.
Drummer Frederick Whittaker born in Earby, Yorkshire and a 25 year old Weaver when he enlisted into the East Lancashire Regiment numbered 8667 on 13th June 1898. He had previous service in the 3rd Lancashire Fusiliers.
He served in South Africa until discharged in 1903 with 3rd Battalion. He rejoins the East Lancs Regt numbered 7946 aged 31 year old Weaver in Sept 1903 till Dec 1904 discharged medically unfit.
