Francis Herbert Poulter of Porcupine Ridge, Daylesford, Victoria, was born on 29th Aug 1876 in South Yarra, Victoria. Enlisted into the 4th Imperial Contingent (Victorian Imperial Bushmen), Victorian Mounted Rifles numbered 328. He also appears to have served with the 2nd Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse (Trooper, 604).
He became a gardener and when WW1 came he enlisted into the Australian Artillery numbered 3070. He was sent to Gallipoli and then on to France when on 26th Oct 1917 he was gassed and sent back to UK. He survived the war.
