Ernest Folkey born in Lambeth, London around 1875 and formely a Packer enlisted into the The Royal West Surrey Regiment numbered 4607 aged 19 years old on 23rd Oct 1894. After training he was sent to India on 10th Nov 1896 earning the Indian General Service Medal clasps Punjab Frontier 1897-98 & Tirah 1897-98 before being sent to South Africa for the Boer War on 3rd Mar 1902 till 3rd Nov 1902 when they return to the UK. He left the army on 9th Jan 1903 after 8 years service.
Sold with service papers showing he was in the 3rd Battalion East Surrey Regt before enlisting.
