Henry Troake born in 1869 in Wellington, Somerset was a labour aged 18 years old when he enlisted into the Devonshire Regt numbered 2005 on 6th Mar 1888. After training he was sent to India with the 2nd Battalion on 1st Oct 1889 till 3rd Jan 1896 earning the Indian General Service Medal clasp Burma 1889/92. Sent home and discharged. Recalled to the colours on 7th Oct 1899 and sent to South Africa with the 2nd Battalion for the Boer War on 20th Oct 1889 till 2nd Apr 1901 and then home till discharged on 4th Apr 1901 after 13 years service. Comes with service papers and rolls.
