John William George Vale was born in 1884 the Son of John & Rhoda Vale of Lambourne,Essex where he was born. In 1911 he was a barman in Romford,Essex. In WW1 he joined the London Regiment numbered 254280 with the 3rd Battalion.
He was awarded a Military Medal in the LondonGazette 24th Jan 1918for the Second Battle of the Somme with the 3rd Battalion. He then received a Second Military Medal (Bar) in the London Gazette dated 14th May 1919 attached to the 2nd Battalion.This was for the Action of Aubigny au Bac where the battalion crossed the Sensee Canal and kept the Germans at bay so that more reinforcements could be brought across all under fire. He name in confirmed in the Battalion History on page 397 copy enclosed.
John died in about 1969.
