Lt 25th July 1977 with seniority 16th June 1977, Captain 16th Dec 1977, Major 16th June 1984 and resign his commission 23rd Dec 1985.
We contacted the Museum and can confirm the following: -
Summer 1978: 2nd Lt HMD Froggatt RAEC was serving at the Junior Leaders Regiment RAC, based at Bovington Camp, Wareham, Dorset.
Winter 1979: Froggatt is in the same posting but now as a Captain.
Summer 1980: Same information as Winter 1979.
Winter 1982: Noted as unable to attend the Falklands Lunch on 4th November held by the RAEC Association President on the JDAC Course.
On operations the RAEC created newssheets and other morale boosting activities, acted as intelligence officers, provided education support for personnel and acted as interpreters. So, your theory that some of them might have spoke Spanish is likely correct.
I forgot to include yesterday that there was an article about going to the Falklands in the journal. Captain Froggatt is listed as UEO Welsh Guards, and called Michael, the M in his initials. After the war he helped open the Falklands Schools due to the Superintendent John Fowler being wounded in the leg from shrapnel as he was in the house hit by Naval Bombardment. Three women were killed in this tragic accident.
