South Africa Medal 1854 named SERJT J MASON 1ST BN RIFLE BDE. Lovely toned medal.
Jacob/James Mason enlisted into the 1st Rifle Brigade some time before 1851 as we have him in Malta in 1851. Next he served in South Africa during the Kaffir Wars second part earning him his South Africa Medal and finally the Crimea War earning a bar to Alma.
