South Africa Medal clasp 1879 named TROOPR C JOUGHIN NAT L HORSE. Lovely tone medal.
Charles Joughin served in the Natal Light Horse in the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Originally meant as a draft for the Frontier Light Horse, they were created as a regiment in their own right when the Frontier Light Horse was found to be at full strength. They were in action at Ulundi and as part of Buller's Flying Column. Charles Joughin passed away with Pleurisy in 1897 - this is his only medal entitlement.
The family were originally from the Isle of Man.
