      Description:

      The Order of St. John of Jerusalem 5th Class, Serving Brother’s breast badge, silver and enamel not named as issued, British Empire Medal, (Civilian) EIIR named GILBERT ALLAN KILGOWER, WW2 Defence Medal unnamed as issued & Service Medal of the order of St John with two gilt service bars not named.

      Service Medal - when 20 years additional service has been performed the three silver bars are removed and a single gilt bar substituted. Additional periods of 5 years of service are recognised by further gilt bars.

      Gilbert was born in 1913 and in 1939 was living in Towcaster as a General Farmer Assistant. Awarded the Order LG 26th Feb 1976 and BEM LG 26th June 1979 as Divisional Officer Towcester Combined Division, St John Ambulance Brigade. He died in Towcester in 2005 aged 92 years old.
