      Sutlej Sobraon Medal no clasp named THOS GREGORY 10TH REGT.


      Thomas Gregory born 1820 enlisted into the 10th Regt of Foot numbered 1391 in Manchester on 30th Apr 1841.

      At the Battle of Sobraon on 10th Feb 1846 the 10th Regiment advance towards the Sikh positions but met fierce artillery fire which caused large casualties until they were able to get within bayonet charge which forced the Sikhs to falter and then to flight.

      At the Battle of Mooltan to tackle the uprisings from the Sikhs, the British were on the defensive and built entrenchments to enable the bombardment of the fort. The 10th Regt were out in front guarding the guns and met with the enemy who were massing in strength and fought with neither side gaining the upper hand. This is were on 9th Sept 1849 Thomas was killed in action. Total was 10 soldiers killed and 35 wounded in action.
