Victorian Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named 2191 PTE C CAINE R W SURR R.He was from Thursk, Yorkshire when aged 19 he enlisted into the 2nd Foot numbered 664 in Oct 1876. He was a Puddler for occupation.The regiment were sent to Malta in July 1877 and left in Feb 1878 to India were they stayed until Oct 1883. In 1881 the regiment became the Royal West Surrey and his number changed to 2191.After 1883 they stayed in the UK and he was award his LS&GC in 1896. He was discharged in Oct 1897.
