Carl Laxs born 1830 or 1827 in Finland enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Ordinary Seaman 2nd Class on 7th May 1955. He was on HMS Sans Pareil earning himself a Second China War Medal. He served on her till 15th Feb 1859 when he joined HMS Edgar till 10th July 1862. HMS Liffley till 23rd Jan 1865 and then Royal Oak till 13th Dec 1867. He joined HMS Indus by now a Stoker from 28th Jan 1868 till 18th Dec 1868. He was numbered 73111 on HMS Lynx till 25th Sep 1873 when he was back to HMS Indus till 19th Dec 1873. HMS Revenge till 17th Nov 1875 when he was back to HMS Indus. HMS Triumph from 28th Nov 1875 but she collided with Steamship Benjamin Whitworth on 1st Mar 1877 and he left her on 12th Mar 1877. Duke of Wellington till 31st Mar 1877 and finally HMS Indus till be paid off on 25th Jun 1877 after 21 years service.
