      Victory Medal named 1351 PTE T A BAIN R SCOTS.

      Thomas Adie Bain born in 1895 in Edinburgh was a Painter when he enlisted into the Royal Scots in May 1912. When WW1 came he was sent with the 5th Battalion to Gallipoli landing on 25th April 1915. They were then withdrawn in Jan 1916 and sent to France in March 1916. The Battalion was merged with the 6th Battalion in June 1916 to become the 5/6th Battalion and this was probably when he was renumbered to 250102.

      Thomas at some stage was attached to the 14th Trench Mortar Battery and he was killed in action on 10th Feb 1917 at the Operations of Ancre. He has know known grave and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial in France. His death was announced on 10th March 1917 in The Scotsman.
