Thomas Godfrey enlisted on 4th Sept 1914 into the South Lancashire Regiment numbered 3458 and landed with the 2nd Battalion on 18th Mar 1915. On 8th May 1915 he was wounded in action in action on Hill 60 near Zillebeke but was not serious as stayed with battalion. On the 25th Sept 1915 he was reported wounded in action and missing. He never came back and became presumed Killed in Action on that day in Hooge. Service Papers.
His Son John was killed in action a month later with the Royal Irish Fus.
