Victory Medal named 41797 PTE W MARTIN R IR RIF.
William Martin born in London on 21st Feb 1898 enlisted into the 7th Royal Irish Rifles during WW1. He went to France with the 7th Battalion and later transferred to the 2nd Battalion. On the 24th Mar 1918 he was captured by the Germans at Cugny, France during the Big Push. His Red Cross cards show he was in D Coy 14th Platoon.
