Victory Medal named 2 LIEUT H R PARRY.Hugh was born in Colwyn Bay and was a 24 Year old Police Constable in the Carnarvonshire Constabulary when he joined up in Oct 1914 in Rhyl. He was numbered 16074 in the 17th Royal Welsh Fusiliers but quickly gained a commission in June 1915.On 14 Dec 1915 he landed in France with the 17th Royal Welsh Fusiliers but was sent back to the UK after being wounded by a mine explosion in May 1916. He was described as suffering from Neurasthenia and Shell Shock.He never improved and was kept in the UK and Ireland till he was discharged.
